Description:
CEDA is the recipient of funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also known as STIMULUS funding) and is need of qualified Housing Counselors to implement and promote CEDA Housing programs suitable to the specific needs of the client group served within the delineated local Community Development Area (CDA) service center.  These are TEMPORARY positions scheduled to reach completion on or about September 30, 2010.

Duties:
Include, but are not limited to: responding to inquiries about housing received at the local CDA service center; providing direct counseling in the following areas: Pre-purchase; Pre-rental; Mortgage Default; Rental Delinquency; Post-occupancy; Post-rehabilitation/Home Improvement; Energy Conservation; Consumer Education; Relocation/Displacement; providing information and referrals for assistance available through CEDA, other non-profit organizations and governmental agencies; following-up/maintaining all Housing counseling client files; submitting monthly program reports to the Program Information Unit, the CSBG Director and the local CDA Director; tracking funds spent for assigned Community Develop Area and maintaining accurate checkbook ledger; developing/maintaining information on resources in the service area of the local CDA; participating in local housing information workshops, including Home Maintenance seminars; assisting in providing technical assistance and training as needed; and keeping abreast of professional developments in the field through reading and attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops and other trainings.

Qualifications: 
Associates degree, BA pref’d. Exp. in counseling or housing-related backgr’d. Knowledge of Housing resources throughout suburban Cook County pref’. Must have strong comm. skills (written/verbal). Bilingual candidates (Eng/Span) encouraged to apply.

Travel:             Throughout target area.  Automobile with valid driver’s license required.  Knowledge of specific service area.
