Home Weatherization
Single Family
Helps make homes safer, more comfortable, and energy efficient, lowering energy bills in the long run. Typical measures may include air sealing, insulation, heating system repair or replacement and ventilation (windows not typically eligible)
Eligibility Criteria:
- Owner occupied buildings – up to four units
- Meets income eligibility criteria – see income guidelines below
- Building must be structurally sound
- Has not been served by Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program in the last 15 years

Per DCEO regulations, applications are prioritized. Households containing elderly members (60 and over), households with a member that has a disabling condition or young children (5 years of age or below) will be given priority and weatherization services first. Non-priority, income-eligible households will be served if funding is available. Therefore, some eligible households may not receive weatherization assistance during the program year they applied in.
Multi-family
Helps make multi-family buildings and tenant units more comfortable, safer, and energy efficient, lowering energy bills in the long run.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Non-owner-occupied 2-4 unit rental buildings
- 5+ Unit Buildings
- Entire building must apply and meet income eligibility criteria
- Building must be structurally sound
- Has not been served by Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program in the last 15 years

You can apply for the weatherization program from the safety of your home by applying online through the DCEO Online Pre-Application or by calling 1-800-571-2332 or by visiting the CEDA Partner Intake Site closest to you. For buildings with 5 or more units contact us.
